I'm actually curious how many video conferencing/chat applications will support 1080p video once these webcams start to show up in laptops.
1080p sounds cool, but it you've got 1080p video streaming both ways for a a two-way video chat then I can see that murdering your internet connection. I'd suspect that the video coming from these webcams will be heavily compressed or down-scaled (or both) unless you have the right software and an extremely fast connection to your ISP. -
We have .3mp webcams still but 12.2mp camera phones...
Then again I have never used my web cam. -
Yep, 1080p webcams don't make much sense until internet is fast enough to support them. I can hardly watch a Youtube video much have a video conference in 1080p! I suppose many people would likely use these to make video podcast and stuff Youtube though. Maybe not completely pointless, but close.
