10" Acer Aspire One on the way?
A set of pictures posted on French-language BlogEEE.net reveals what is supposedly the upcoming 10-inch version of the Acer Aspire One netbook. It will most likely feature the same specifications as the current Aspire One and just about every other netbook on the market - Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard disk, etc - save for the screen, which keeps the same 1024x600 resolution.

good move. i think 10" is the sweet spot between portability and keyboard size. here's hoping prices overall will stay the same though (or hopefully drop).

Those are nice looking! I think these would sell very well.

I know, I would be very tempted. :D

Not only is the larger keyboard of the 10" the sweet spot, the larger screen is much easier for my older eyes to read. After visiting Circuit City again today to compare netbooks, I'm more convinced than ever that I really need a 10" screen.

The current version of the Aspire One is already a 10" sized netbook with a 8.9" screen so there might not be any increase in the keyboard size.

Hopefully Acer made some improvements on getting to the insides for upgrading.

Apparently, they did remove onboard memory so it should now support 2GB.
    Perhaps Bluetooth as well (optional).
Touchpad buttons are on the bottom now (single button apparently) so it would appear that they are using a new chassis as the current one cannot accomodate bottom buttons for touchpad.

10" is a much better size than the 8.9" one they currently have. I find the keyboard on the 8.9" one to be annoying.

Really? It's said to be one of the best in the notebook world.

I'm not really sure why Acer would go this route... all the pro's have been listed, a true 10" screen (because I'm pretty sure it's a 10" body right now), and touchpad buttons underneath the touchpad. Doesn't seem like enough reason to bring out a whole new netbook to me.

The AAO looks very similar in dimension to other 10" netbooks such as the Lenovo S10, Asus 1000HA, Samsung NC10 and HP Mini. There's not more than a half-inch difference. So, I guess it really does have a 10" body with a 9" screen. It'll be interesting to see if they keep the same body and just increase the screen a bit.

If the pics in the original post are really of the new Aspire One then there's definitely a chassis change.

The keyboard on the current Aspire One goes edge to edge on the netbook but those pics show a border around the keyboard.

Either the chassis got bigger or the keyboard got smaller.
