Hmm... anyone tried this yet? lol

    http://sony.tradeups.com/promotions/index.html

I have a 1997 Dell Latitude CPx that I'm willing to trade it in for $500 off of a new Sony...

shiet, if this works... anyone wanna buy a brand-new unopened Sony? cheap?! :D

    cheers,

    yass

UPDATE: Holy crap, I think this is actually going to work... I just received confirmation # that if I send in a proof of purchase for a Sony BX series computer, along with my Dell Latitude CP (P1 233mhz, 64mb RAM, 4GB HD, 8xCD-ROM... lol), I get $500 back! This isn't bad at all... haha I might just have to jump in on this...

1997! Wow! I also have one but is younger than yours (2000). I didn't think they went that far back.

Yea yea first time I just breezed through it, then I read it more closely...

" You must have proof of purchase of the trade-in product(s). Title to the trade-in product(s) transfers to Sony’s program administrator on the date and time the trade-in product(s) is received by the program administrator."

Ouch, I wonder if I still have my freaking receipt from 1997!!!

    -_-

of course the line that Sony reserves the right to deny the trade-in value kinda doesn't help their case either -- so essentially, if you buy a BX, hoping to trade in your old Dell, only to find out later that your claim is denied because you lost your original restore CD from 8 years go... you are pretty much SOL.

Way to squash what could be a great promotion. :p

    *hate Sony more now. heh

    cheers,

    yass

this is only for channel distributors of sony vaio laptops, so unless you have a channel distribution license from sony -- no love on this promotion. nice try though ;)

I dunno thou, I ordered my Dell through Dell's Small Business Dept by claiming to be a business of ONE... So sometimes rules can be slightly bent... However somehow I do think that Sony isn't nearly as generous...

    cheers,

My guess would be that a Mac, Voodoo or AW machine would be much more to your liking, anyway . . . :D
