im taking about the lids and the palmrests, i cant stand them being super glossy they get fingerprints and get nasty so fast from scratches etc...just wonderin why the glossy trend... id much rather have a matte or flat finish?? any comments on this..
-
i think to make them look more "up scale"
-
Looks brighter and the glare is tolerable even in the sun for me.

i just got mine because it was a pretty good laptop on sale...

i am looking at a msi system the 1719 it has great specs and a good price.... its just soooooo glossy.. i cant imagine it will not scratch up easy and be constantly covered in fingerprints.. i think that would drive me nuts, i wish they had a more matte style finish and it seems almost all manufactures are going this way..i just dont see why?? -
That a good question really. I often wonder the same thing. Perhaps more people find glossy notebooks more aesthetically pleasing. Personally, for me, it is all about the hardware.
zfactor, are you from NJ, or do you just like the devils? -
born and raised in nj then moved to florida... lol but yeah my team has always been the devils since i can remember watching hockey on tv as a kid...
i hate the gloss i could live with it on the cover.. but on the palmrests and the touchpad etc... i mean how the heck do you keep it nice short of cleaning it everytime its used.. -
To attract the fingerprints
-
Why do you like the Devils? Same answer.
-
and yeah to each his / her own but im way to much of a ocd freak with my notebooks...no way id be able to live with some of these things as glosy as they are... -
Because of the Notebook/computer modding trend. Back when Notebooks were still bloody expensive and really just considered a business and school tool and not a home entertainment sub 500 toy people were painting their notebooks with automotive paint. And People got this idea by seeing fancy modded computer desktop cases at LANs.
Companies like alienware and Falcon Northwest saw this and thought HEY WE COULD SELL THIS SERVICE. BAM bring in an HP/Dell take over, and you get "Hey we don't need to paint it, we could make glossy cases the same way we make cheap plastic looking cases"
So making it glossy is like those car companies putting huge wheels on cars, because people were doing it and companies think it's what people want. Also it hides the shame of the cheap plastic used. -
I assume the NJ Devils got their name from the NJ Devil? The beast from the woods that looks like a devil? gooo TravelChannel! lol
-
No way I wouldn't commit suicide after having my team lose to the Senators in the playoffs.
-
People like glossy notebooks because they are the Sofa King, Wee Todid. Say his name real fast and you'll understand what I mean!
P.S. - Arise chicken! CHICKEN ARISE!
why is everyone going to these super glossy notebooks
