I bought an Ace TravelMate 2410 notebook from a garage sale . All was working well for an year until recently a friend of mine borrowed it to work on his assignment. I realized after that the lappy became infected and unfortunately my AVG subscription expired. I used hiren boot cd to recover data and formatted the HDD. When I tried boot from OS cd it could not load. I went into bios and found out the option to select to boot from cd is grayed out. I believe i don't have admin access to make changes in bios. The pw given to me to login is not a power user to make changes. I tried removing the battery and leaving it for 48hrs hoping it would default but this didn't work. Any tip available to work around this to get it to work would be grateful.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Wow...yet another thread from a first time poster asking about BIOS security workarounds!

Unfortunately we cannot help you bypass security measures. If you can somehow prove you actually own the laptop (yeah, right) you might be able to get Acer to help you.
