I strongly suggest you to live the palm rest like it was, because no matter what color you paint, it will not fir with the keyboard. unless, you can paint the keyboard also, or switch it to the same color.

He only painted the lid. Thread here.

Not really sure what to do about the palmrest since it IS aluminium, and not plastic. So DON'T sand it down. Sanding only applies to painted plastic components.

I’d love to have a completely black XPS M1330, but not feeling so brave right now... especially since I don’t know when I’ll have to send it back for a GPU replacement again… My modding stopped at replacing the keyboard and a leather skin on the lid.

Yes, follow the link given in my previous post. But their charges are very high. Or you can take it to a local airbrush / painting shop, that would be the cheapest.
Calming warranty on a painted notebook may lead to some problems. I'd suggest you keep a separate set of parts : A Palmrest, screen back cover and a bezel in case you want to swap them. Those parts are cheap on eBay.

Those parts are pretty simple to change out. You can see examples in my Replace your screen guide (see sig). And there's a link to the service manual as well in there.
