so, I was looking to make a backlit keyboard with some el wire for my notebook.
that's kinda easy to do because all you need is to mod a keyboard and add an inside usb port. no problem here. I already have done it with a desktop keyboard.
I could also use this to light some other areas like the lid and such.

but then it will only have one colour. or multiple colour if you add some coloured plastic. but they are static you can't control colours or luminosity. then I realised that I could somehow add usb controlled lights. I've found some stuff (like this Yocto-Color - USB controlled RBG LEDs ) but what I'm really looking for is for something similar to el wire or a led stripe that can be controlled by usb and not just some leds. or maybe I could try it by using optic fibre but I don't think it would work.
do you known something that I could use for this?
    thanks.
