Shaved Dell logo and "anodized" paint; wife wanted the lappy to match her phone and mouse.

A little wetsanding, then 3M finish restorer compound and wax both applied with a random orbital buffer. Gives it a decent finish.

The anodized paint is actually a clear candy coat so the finish depends on the base paint. I put it on top of Rustoleum aluminum metal finish. This all took about a day, I baked the paint between coats ( on a radiator -not oven) for fast results.

Very cool. If someone felt like writing up a step by step guide with images, we'd love to post it.

I can do that, I'll paint the keyboard surround in matching anodizing red and take pics of the process.

I think wipeout already had pics and details in his link though.

If you want to add color to a silver surface consider Metalcast anodizing:

what kind of dell monitor are you using, it looks like the 20.1 wide screen. Is that hooked up to your laptop?

    It's the dell 2005fpw

Yes it is hooked up to the laptop.

The integrated intel i855 is also capable of dual monitoring 1680x1050 with 1280x768 in 32 bits :)
