I love to get my SZ done!

It's a good idea and the price is reasonable (in my opinion) but I don't know if I'd get one for my laptop.

Why not? For the same reason as Metamorphical:
I can't think of anything that I'd want to etched on my laptop. If I thought of something that I really (really really really) liked I might consider it. But for the same reasons I'd never get a tatoo, I'd never do that.

Maybe on the inside of the laptop..never the outer display. Have some superman emblems etched on there.

For me it's a no. I prefer the default design (looks stylish enough).

I would pay about $50 to engrave some of my favorite quotes and scenes from classic TV shows.

I think I'd want something abstract, so I wouldn't get bored of the subject... maybe some swoopy lines, blocks of solid color, etc. I'd have to play with it to be totally sure ;)

I think it depends on what you want and how good it was done. I am lucky I can do something like this my self.

Etching into plastic is a bad idea. I use to do keychains. The Oils from your hands and such made images vanish.

I might try this on one of my older laptops. I think a Poker chips and cards on one of my family laptops.

No, because it costs money and it's just pointless and what's it going to achieve for you other than a bit of street cred. Just no.

I'm in a bad mood - maybe I'd be more positive in the morning when I've cheered up a bit.

The best way to ruin the resale of a product is to personalize it with etching and/or initials. I wouldnt do it or even buy a used item that had someone elses initials on it

though it wont be that classy and it wont haf the *bling bling* either
on the bright side if u ever wanna sell it then ou would be able to get a better resale value but laser etching would make ones laptop not worth stealing and is a good measure in my opinion to kee your laptop from being stolen

Etching, like tattoos and marriage, is so permanent. Scary.

i dont see how you can compare etching to a tattoo a tattoo is on your body for life whereas you are probably only going to keep your laptop for the next 2-4 years.
o and would this work on an asus c90 the top being almost identical to the top of one of the hp dv series laptops.

I just paid $1000 for my laptop and I'm not about to let a laser loose on it. Especially have it done by some kid with tats who most likely is stoned on crank.

I wouldnt mind getting that done on my T60, would look really nice, white on black (or it might be a reflective black on black).

However, I've been looking around, theres so far only one place that offers it in New York.

One is the Adafruit company, that charges 100 for each etching, and its buy appointment only. But they do teach you the entire process, in case you're curious about it.

Theres another one in Brooklyn, but theres not much info on it.

...Somehow the image of a crazed, drugged out, teenager etching laptops with a laser made me laugh. Just somehow.

I wonder how laser etching would look on a notebook that is jetblack. All the pictures I have seen have been of silver colored laptops. Anyone have any idea what it would look like?
