I've seen and used desktops made of wood. I was in an office recently (lawyer) and he has a beatiful office with lots of beatiful natural wood and rather than have some hunk of plastic ruining everything he had his case done in wood, his mouse and keyboard as well. Nice and smooth and just wonderful! Didn't seem to hurt the machine any either. This got me wondering about doing laptops this way, I know dell has offered fake wood palm rest inserts but I recently found an italian fellow who does laptops (and desktops) in real natural woods (maple, cherry, walnut) he can do dell logos and palmrests but he also does entire cases!

Now I know not everyone loves wood, but I do. I've built my own bathroom cabinets (tw0) a bookshelf and have an anchient burlwood table (huge and heavy but so beatiful and well made) that my great grandfather built. I also own some amish furniture in my families cabin. Though my desk at the moment is trash I'll have to fix that along with this mod :)

So if you thought my stickers were...well whatever you thought just wait till you see it made of wood :)

Note: I'd do it myself but I have no experience with this, he does and has a degree in computer security and technology. I have seen proof of his work and his shop so I'd rather he do the work :)

waiting to choose my wood and get a price qoute. Then I have to wait to have it done (summer)
