    YouTube - ‪Future Design Laptop - Rolltop 2.0 (New Version)‬‏

    Seems like an all-in-one laptop/screen.

Personally, I think that we'll be moving more towards a smartphone computer rather than a canister design.

Imagine a phone with 2 projectors. One for virtual keyboard, and one that projects the video onto a wall (or plugs into your tv/monitor).

Still need a virtual mouse though :p

I always thought along the same lines as you, that tablets would move into the market, and then shrink them down to smartphones. This looks neat, but it is nothing more than a concept. It doesn't even have an actual functioning model yet. I could draw a design for a spaceship that is totally awesome, but it doesn't mean it is feasible.

Creative thinking I suppose, more interested in implementation.

The idea of wearable computers is not a new one. Considering this is just a concept design, I wouldn't hold my breath on it. It's a neat idea though.

They would need to use OLED screen's for this which as of now are crazy expensive, I wouldnt wait for anything like this to have release date for atleast 10 years +, it would be pretty cool though, we would also have to make tiny parts to be kept in those small links, the first model's would be like netbooks... useless. One day I'm sure though.

This looks so amazing. I don't know why, maybe I am old fashioned but for some reason I wouldn't want something like this in the future but who knows, if it comes, I will probably get used to it anyway.

I would love to see some sort of keyboard cover you could place over the screen keyboard so you could feel the keys. Idk how it would work but I like the idea

Nahh, contact lenses with LEDs are.

Hook them up to your computer that's A) Made from your DNA
    or
    B) In your pocket (my phone has 1gb of ram and a 1.2ghz dual core cpu that runs linux, so this can't be too far off!)

Android smartphones are already computers :D. Thats why you need antivirus for it.
Truthly, did you imagine 11 years ago what kind of computers we will have today  ? I bought my 2nd PC then a Athlon XP with 512Mb Ram!!! No one thought about dual core CPU´s :D because there was no platform wich could use them (only servers) and the memory management was that bad that a dualcore CPU was slower than a solo core  .
Or do you remember how your first laptop was designed?
This thing was around 4kg and had only a floppy drive :p a pentium 1 @ 120Mhz (i upgraded to MMX) and 48MB RAM. PCMCIA: (People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms ) was integrated in every laptop!
USB?!?! I never thought that we will get once a interface wich will support so many other devices.
The computer design changed also. We have now tablet pc´s from lenovo, fsc, toshiba... Our notebooks are not that heavy as they have been before. The materials wich we used changed and we are able to use better technology to produce computers.
Furthermore i think we will get there in some time but therefore our engeneers have to find possibilities to produce that kind of PC wich can be folded :D . We have to develop the necessary materials. And perhaps on the next CeBit Sony or lenovo already present a prototype.

Love the idea, although our tech with flexible touch screens is far too expensive to implement this any time soon..

And they might want to change their logo on the sides (as Monster beats may have a problem with possible TM infringement ^_^)

Also, that BBC2 video is kind of a rip of The Onion's report on Apple's new laptop...

Keyboardless "Macbook Wheel" from Apple :)

It's only an intermediate step. The next step is to remove all the bulky parts.

A rollable screen is nice, but why have something that big at all? Let's integrate a much smaller screen into some glasses. Ok, then you can't share a film with your friend. So he needs his own screen glasses and the two of you need a network connection. Now that we got rid of the screen we need to do something about that huge keyboard. Basically all it does is to translate finger movements into computer inputs. Let's do that with some special gloves instead that have sensors integrated which directly measure the movement of your fingers. This is all possible with currently available technology. We'd just have to make some products for the end user out of it.

Of course everybody would constantly lose or forget his glasses or gloves, so in phase two immediately after birth one eye will be replaced by a camera that is directly attached to the visual nerve and can also display images that it receives via a network transceiver which is connected to the brain somehow. The gloves will be replaced by sensors that are attached to tactile nerves. And while we're at it, now that we have the hands free we could equip them with some cool injection tubes... um, wait... that was another story.

I remember my first dual core computer. It was one of the first (Acer 5672) with a yonah core duo 1.6GHz. I thought I was high speed even though XP didnt know how to handle dual core CPUs at first.

My first laptop was an 80486 with only a 3.5in floppy and a serial optical drive. Hell my android phone now crushes any pc I owned prior to 2005. Thinking about my current cell phone 6 years ago or 10 years ago would be too much to comprehend...

Yes its cool but why? I don't think its very practical to unroll, plug in, plug in again, and then use your computer.
