Ok, I guess this goes to custom build section ;)

So got this y500 and understood that the 650m's had a lot of overclocking potential and decided that I NEED to build a watercooling setup for them.

Didn't take long and I had a tier 1 setup running and all good.

Only problem was that I lost my second 650m during the test phase as the cooling block pushed the card little bit and it wasn't correctly seated

Still got the loop working and was quite happy with it. After a while decided that I need to get it more mobile and mod it more.

Made a tier 2 stand, looks alot better now? ;)

Only thing i need is the second card for the SLI configuration, will make a bigger build log to couple of places after I get the second card.

Anybody willing to sponsor it for me? ;)

EDIT: Ohh and those results ofcourse!

    Using 1290/1300mhz (2600mhz?) 247 OC @ 1.175v

    Latest 3dmarks went through with 1290/1450mhz (2900mhz?)

Btw, why GPU-z gives 1300mhz for memory and nvidia inspector 2600mhz? Whats up with that?

Havent done much comparing yet but HWBot tells enough ;)

Clearly I'm in some modding fury or something. Had this 7 inch tablet laying around without use, gonna install it next to the laptop screen to serve as IRC screen :'D

This is something I came up with. Need to figure out how to make it more stable and save the ability to turn it behind the screen when moving the laptop.

Pretty awesome mod, though unfortunate that the second card was lost. What were the base clocks, for those of us unfamiliar with the 650M? And how practical is this when moving the laptop? It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like it would interfere with moving the laptop in a bag or backpack.

835/2000mhz are the base clocks. Setup needs more space currently and wont fit in any basic laptop bag etc. The thing is that I got my laptop just to save some space in my apartment and I was able to lose one table because of the y500 so the mobility isn't any priority for me. It still is alot easier to go to lanparties with this setup when compared to normal PC.

I've been thinking of a more compact mod with a this kind of cooling pad:

I'm also going to get another card for the ultrabay later this year, after that I should be all good for couple of years :)

Hahah, just ordered a new ultrabay gpu and decided to try out the old one with some soldering.

Dunno what happened, hearing some coil whine when starting the computer but it goes away when i get to windows and seems to be working well. Only thing you can notice is that it seems to lost some of it's power when looking at the pixel, texture filrates and bandwidth? ;D

Gonna get this under water and we'll see how fast this "beast" can go.

    I know, I'm a madman.

There is the original unlocked vBIOS here, but it only works for Windows 7 and 8, not 8.1: Lenovo Y400 / Y500 - unlocked BIOS / wlan whitelist mod

AFAIK, the official Lenovo vBIOS update for 8.1 has never been modded.
