My niece is turning 4 in a few days and my brother-in-law asked me to restore his old laptop for her. It needed a new hard drive, battery and memory. Well that was the easy part. I wanted to go an extra step soooo, I painted it! :D

Tell me what you think. It is a HP Pavilion zt1130. I have some Dora the Explorer stickers (my niece's favorite character) should I add them or leave it plain?

I first tried Krylon Fusion for Plastics in a Pink color. That didn't cover the original blue/grey color of the laptop very well. I removed it then I used a white primer on it. After that I used the regular brand of Krylon spray paint. The Krylon Fusion didn't come in purple which is the original color I wanted to use. I used a high gloss sealer afterwords and that is it. I did use about three coats of the purple. The original multi-colored blue/grey still changes the shade of purple on the cover. I thought it still looked good so I left it alone.

    Yeah...must be nice.

Put the stickers on and put a clear-coat finish on it. :)

    On an off-topic note.

My boss bought his 2 14year old girls each a Sony Viao laptop and a cell phone for Christmas. To which I responded that I wanted a raise. :)

She gets spoiled by everyone in the family...

Not so lucky right now as far as the laptop is concerned. After playing with it for just a few days the laptop is now failing on her. Windows crashing and automatic reboots type of problems. When I originally got the laptop it had a failed hard drive already. I'm wondering now if the controller on the motherboard is bad which caused the initial problems. Regardless I have to test it out and if I can't get it going she will get a new laptop.
