the envy font on the lit looks wrong slanted..

 

An extremely expensive machine like yours, IMHO, should have a subtle look. I love that shade of red, and the Voodoo mask on the touchpad looks nice. The machine would look great, I think, without the "busy" look with the stickers.

Dude you got 2 VooDoo's no one is gonna criticize you on a paint job. I say if you got it flaunt it, but I'm not feeling the gold on the top, it makes it hard to look at with the vibrant red and yellow/gold colors. Everything else looks nice, hope it comes out cool!

As an honest opinion, I think it would look much better if you painted it red and left it that way. Metallic black would be even better... atleast to me it would. I've always had a thing against Red/Yellow or Red/Gold it reminds me of ketchup and mustard or McDonald's. With the green AMD lights, it would drive me crazy... like McDonald's at Christmas. To each his own though. If you like it, that's all that matters.

Personally I don't think K-TRON is "flaunting it" or getting "stupid fast and the furious" just because he's showing his modifications on NBR. Not many people dare do what K-TRON is doing to his notebook, and there are many people who find this DIY thing quite cool and inspiring.

firstly, i've know K-Tron from the voodoo boards and i have only the highest respect for him for showing his modding capabilities on here as well as the voodoo boards. i'm amazed and his posts is always a learning experience.

never have i mentioned that K-T posting his mods is flaunting...
my comment/analogy was regarding his style of design he has chosen.
all the corporate logos and branding, hence my comment...

secondly, i'm expressing an opinion and i did not expressed whether my opinion is right or wrong nor have i forced my opinion to be correct. it's just a subjective opinion.

K-Tron, we need to sit and you can teach me how you gave more volume at the cover to compensate for lighting...

perhaps one of these days, we can work on a build together... and come up with some crazy stuff...

one of my favorite thoughts was perhaps have a 3D of voodoo logo as the entire cover... or even just the half of voodoo logo 3D on one side of the cover... but of course, in metal... and again, being subtle,... anodized black... he he he

well, you pretty much fixed it by removing the u709 wrap around the voodoo logo... perhaps even the voodoo logo being a tad big and it seems to compete with the "envy" text...

the AMD is a part of the mod so show that off... great...

but dont change your mind on my account...

and btw, i'm working in the city now... SOHO actually... so it's not as bad as coming over to the boondocks...

he he he... one day, i will bring the car... and park it in the street...

 

I think the idea of the red and copper has a lot of potential, but I would definitely have to change the lights from green to red, orange, or red/orange to keep the theme from turning Christmas. I'm a lot like the King in the respect that I prefer subtle sleek mods. I give you props for the customization, but it's a little over the top for me. I might have to break out the Photoshop sometime today and see what I can come up with, lol.

On the design note, I do agree that perhaps a more subtle look would make it more sleek. However, on the other hand, i think it needs to be little more daring and bold with the designs with the RED base color K-TRON has chosen. Either way I applaud his efforts and can't wait to see the end result

I think a laptop that wants to stand out would be better with a solid color that looks real snazzy, but having all the decorative branding and what not is a little over the top for my tastes, but to each his own (also like to know how you did the case modding!).

Wow. You've put a lot of thought and effort into making this a masterpiece. Kudos to you for spending the time & money on this project. At the end of the day, your own opinion matters the most and i think you've managed to achieve a very unique look for your laptop. Congrats and can't wait to see it completed.

okay in my mind I'm still the 20 something i was back in my service days in the USN circa 1974 to 1979 but physically i will be 51 in July. kinda late start with all these high tech toys. didn't have that back in my day.

but you are never too old to learn and have fun.

second i was going to ask if those were LEDs in the AMD logo on the back of the lid, and it is, thats pimpin!

K-TRON, you're truly brave. i guess confidence derives from well thought out plan. i'd never have the guts to take apart such a huge investment. let us know how it goes.

edit: i'm even more surprised you decided to get stock casing w/o any custom paint. considering voodoo specializes in custom paint/art work it seems kind of odd you chose to use an outside painter. couldn't you have simply requested voodoo to make it specifically the way you wanted for final value of the notebook?
