    Umm, when someone figures out how to display something in mid air, like those holograms from star wars.

    Doubt any of us will see these in our lifetimes.

    Advanced OLED, but alas, technology hasn't advanced that far yet. Though. transparent LCD can result in pretty positive and negative results.

    Here's the real deal instead of a cute desktop wallpaper.

    Google my friends :p ... I have seen a small one designed for text on a podium, very cool.
    Also HUDs are transparent screens.

    Transparent LCD displays are already there (like in those transparent digital clocks etc.).But what I cant understand is how they can illuminate something on a screen like that. Without a backlight I don’t see a way to display bright and vibrant colors.
