Does anybody have experiences with the touchpad protectors here:

    http://www.skinstyler.com/

Im not really interested in the protection but the claim that it makes the touchpad "smooth" and "glides effortlessly". My Asus 1005HA has a really crapp (IMO) finish that has a lot of friction.

I think you would be better off replacing the touchpad. It's most likely a reasonably common synaptics model.

Replacing the touchpad is a good idea but it looks as if he doesn't want to spend the money. The protectors, if they work, would be a nice simple alternative.

give it a thick clear coat and use rubbing compound to smooth it out.

Prob still be easier to use the protectors. By far the simplest solution. Just take the plunge. 10$ really isnt that bad. You would spend less than would on Clear coat, rubbing compound, and labor or a new touchpad.
