I have read this topic going many ways so I would like to know what is correct.

    Currently I have a Dell 1420
Can it use the lights on a Studio 15 keyboard, they are the same size.
Is there any other connectors that the 1420 does not have?
Does this void warrenty. I think mine rean out but I still would like to know.

Some say that the drivers are not in the PC. but arnt the drivers put into the device so couldn't one just down load the Studio 15 drivers?
Isnt the BIOS the same (A09 (I think))

Is the avatar Portnoy? (Sorry off topic) Actually, looks like too many cymbals for Portnoy, but kinda seems like his Tama from the Metropolis Pt. II days.

    I know, I'm a studio musician. (Drummer/Guitar Player)

As for the keyboard, I thought the 1420 was a 14" Notebook? Do they use the same size keyboard?

    I'll Google a bit.

*EDIT* After looking a little closer, it doesn't look like they are identical, but I could be wrong.

There is a large topic in the Dell forums about this. The Studio keyboard should fit and work on the 1420. The connector for the keyboard is the same and the keyboard is the same size.

However, there is an extra cable for the backlight that your 1420 will not have. Thus far, no one has been able to confirm or deny that the backlight will work on a computer that did not come with the backlight keyboard.

Has anyone taken off the keyboard to check the connections?
