So recently I got a laptop for free from my friend. It's pretty old (Toshiba ps240c-00ujxp). I already spray painted the bezel and the area around the plastic white (Krylon Fusion Satin White). Does anyone know whether a matte finish is necessary? I think it might be good to protect the paint but I can't seem to find it in any store near where I live. I'm in Toronto Canada by the way. So does anyone know where I can buy the Krylon Matte Finish or any spray paint Matte Finish around here?

I'll post before and after pictures once I finish the project :D.

Use krylon clear coat to put over it.

Why would a matte finish be necessary? Its just personal preference - whether you want a glossy clear or a matte clear. Dont know about specific stores in Canada but anything like Home Depot or Lowes should have both matte and glossy clear coat

Yeah, any hardware store should have it, just read on the can and it should say what sheen it is. I personally like glossy finishes alot more, but thats just me.

Yea, I was originally going to do glossy finish but I think I'm liking matte (or Satin actually) a bit better now since I don't like all the fingerprint marks that get on there. I think Satin white looks pretty nice--see, for example, the Toshiba Protege (of course that's like 1/2 as thick as my free laptop). I would be so paranoid about getting fingerprints and palm-prints on the laptop that it would be a painful experience to use.

I checked the website for Home Depot and Lowe's (Canadian version of each) and neither had more than a couple of spray paints and spray paint finishes. They only had the bucket and brush type, which is definitely not for this kind of paint job lol. Maybe I'm not searching properly? If someone could link me then it would be great! Otherwise I think I will just leave the paint job as is and start reassembling after 2 weeks or so.

    edit:
PS: Nizzy, my local Canadian Tire store didn't have the Krylon clear finish. I don't think they sell it at all. By the way, Canadian Tire is the store where I got my Krylon Fusion Satin White from, no other stores had it, even Home Depot :S
