I totally love Sony Vaio SZ series but they are missing an option for a higher resolution (1440x900). They only have 1280x800 and it's a bit low for my needs...
Does anyone know if Sony is planning to come up with a higher resolution screens?

1280x800 or 1024x768 is pretty much standard on 12.1-13.3 notebooks, I'm sorry to say. I doubt that Sony will release a higher res ultraportable screen.
Could you use an external monitor sometimes? If, not you'll have to move up to 14.1 inch territory in order to get wxga+. -
no, I very much doubt that Sony will release a higher resolution screen for the SZ. It is meant to be a very portable laptop and it does have a small screen, so it does make sense that the SZ has a small screen resolution.
If you use your laptop at home a lot, you could buy a cheap external monitor with a good resolution and then clone the image from the GPU. The external monitor will display an image of it's native resolution, giving you a higher resolution screen. -

Are there no 13.3" screens at all that use the resolution? Maybe you could take yours out and replace it with a new panel?

You will need a 15" laptop or 17 to find that res.
