I totally love Sony Vaio SZ series but they are missing an option for a higher resolution (1440x900). They only have 1280x800 and it's a bit low for my needs...
Does anyone know if Sony is planning to come up with a higher resolution screens?

1280x800 or 1024x768 is pretty much standard on 12.1-13.3 notebooks, I'm sorry to say. I doubt that Sony will release a higher res ultraportable screen.

Could you use an external monitor sometimes? If, not you'll have to move up to 14.1 inch territory in order to get wxga+.

no, I very much doubt that Sony will release a higher resolution screen for the SZ. It is meant to be a very portable laptop and it does have a small screen, so it does make sense that the SZ has a small screen resolution.

If you use your laptop at home a lot, you could buy a cheap external monitor with a good resolution and then clone the image from the GPU. The external monitor will display an image of it's native resolution, giving you a higher resolution screen.

Sony's C series that are 14' also don't have a higher resolution. I'm planning to get a docking station and external monitor. I was just curious to know. By the way, so far I was unable to use external monitor output and set a different resolution on it. For some reason when I used "idenrify" function in "display properties" both screeens (notbook lcd and external monitor) show 1. I have tried all the setting and it still not working...

Are there no 13.3" screens at all that use the resolution? Maybe you could take yours out and replace it with a new panel?

You will need a 15" laptop or 17 to find that res.
