Skins that cover the notebook do carry the risk of causing higher notebook temperatures or causing the notebook to overheat.

    I do not recommend it.

LaptopDesignUSA decided against selling skins after a certain large OEM found out that the vast majority of people can not apply Vinyl skins straight, without air bubbles, without wrinkles, without excess stretching or other common issues that generally only people that work with Vinyl know how to prevent.

Also after time they start to curl, fade, wear off....unless you clear coat over them.

someone makes a really neat protective hard case/skin for Macbooks and Macbook Pro's. They really are cool and I am pretty sure the manage the ventiliation pretty well. I forget the name and maker though.

But I would not want to cover my system with vinyl, the lid back and maybe the bezel itself sure but just nothing on the base. Keeping your laptop cool will extend it's life my a fair amount, maybe even a few years. And covering the base with another layer will actually restrict the calculated heat exchange the case itself offers the system as designed. That will cause the internal temps to increase, sometimes a LOT. And with laptops excessive heat = decreased laptop lifespan...
