I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro.
It's 18 months old: but I'm still very happy with it.

Only one problem: scratches on the screen.
I have taken very close attention and have made sure my laptop is VERY
    well looked after.

Cause of the problem: the damn bad design of the laptop.
The bit underneath the keyboard is the culprit: it's somehow made a
    horizontal scrape on my screen.

Is there anything I can do about this?
Can I someohow repair the screen?

    Can I replace the plastic?
    The screen itself is fine.

    Any advice would be good.

    Thanks.

maybe you dont understand what he was talking about. he meant the actual lcd screen itself not the laptop lid. maybe you could buy some cloth and put it over the keyboard every time you close your notebook.

    guys... thanks for the replies.
laptop 18 months old - so past its warranty.
but: i'd still like to call toshiba and complain and get some compensation!
it was a design fault that is causing the problem - i have done ntohing wrong. :(

the logic beihnd my thinking: car manufacturers have been held liable for faulty builds on vehicles that have passed their warranty... can tremember specifics... but i've definitely heard it before.
heck... i think the same should apply to laptops!

get a cloth...? erm yes: to stop further damage being done.
but the fact is: some damage is already done. :(

Plastic on the screen?? I don't own a toshiba but afaik they do not have any plastic cover over thier screens, that would be the face of the screen.

I highly recommend not using any of the techniques used by others on thier lids to attempt a repair of your screen.

I have a similar issue on my averatec(as well as many other averatec 3200 series owners) and there is no good fix. I was lucky to notice mine soon enough so it is very slight and started using a small piece of cloth to prevent further damage. The manufacturer has been no help.

    Good luck.

This is a common problem with most laptops, really. Your going to see it with any laptop that vets caried in a bag with other items.

Maybe you can get some TurtleWax Scratch and Swirl Remover. It removes some minor scratches from cars.

I know, it prolly won't work. Just a thought.

What about that stuff sold to repair scratches on eyes glasses? It fills the void with a polymer substance I believe. Just a thought.
