    Hi All,

I am a new member to this FORUM............

    I have bought a SONY LAPTOP MODEL (SONY VGN-CR35G/T) on 29th May'2008.

Now its reaching 1 year 3 months. Performance wise this model I am satisfied. But unfortunately its started show corrosion/removal of the original painting at the bottom of the LCD PANEL (i.e just below the “SONY LOGO”) and near the touch pad and also the removal of original silver coating on the front body (i.e near the “CR LOGO”-the portion is marked in red box for your reference). Snapshot is attached SONY VGN CR35G Ta.pdf for all of your reference.

This really making me afraid as this is a costly laptop and I am also afraid that if the scartches/corosion started to spread all of the silver body what could the solution?.

Also note that the more corosion/scratches is started to show in a place where the fingures are not touched regualry (i.e just below the lcd panel).

IS ANYBODY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE?. IF SO KINDLY SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH ME AND HOW SOLVED IT?.

EXPECTING ALL OF YOUR VALUABLE GUIDANCE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Jesim

I think this constitutes normal wear and tear, and as it is only cosmetic i not covered by warranty.

The palmrest area - I'd say a watch maybe? Or a shirtsleeve?

The "dots" that you call corrosion - I'd say someting got stuck, like sand or so and scratched it.

That, my friend, is just normal wear and tear. The area right at the bottom of the palm rest looks like it is just chrome plated. There are natural acids in the oils and sweat that come off of your hands and wrists. That probably just wore away the chrome plating. It also looks as though a watch or bracelet could have assisted in the wearing away of that area. As for the little spots and such, those are caused by small dirt particles that may have gotten caught inbetween the LCD and the base. If you want to prevent further damage, I recommend getting some sort of cloth to place over the keyboard and touchpad area when the computer is closed. I personally use a small sheet of leather, but I also have a different computer. You just have to find something that works.
