My Sony Vaio Z has a little scratch on its top cover. Is there anyone who can help me fix it aside from sending it to Sony and spending $250 on it?

You can't fix plastic. If you put an Invisible Shield on it, the scratch should be much less noticeable.

Have you tried searching for a new lid on Ebay? I seem to remember that for certain popular models of laptops, often random parts are freely available for purchase on Ebay. Its worth a shot?

You should then try to look for another guy/company that sell Vaio parts then. Not all of them are on eBay. You can as Sony? I needed that one time and phoned Asus, they did give me a Swidish company's name that sold Asus parts. :)

You could put on a laptop skin, or a sticker to cover up that part. It will still look pretty normal if you put something like a Razer sticker on the scratched part.

Another thing you could do is to bring the lid to a spray shop, and let them respray the silver color on the lid.

If you want a snazzy looking laptop you could contact Colorware and they'll professionally paint it for you and you pick the colors.

Colorware is really expensive, it will actually be cheaper to get a lid from sony.

Some regular spray shops may be able to do it for a resonable price

This is a major negative of VAIO ownership. Replacement costs are outrageous. I was going to buy a VAIO YB, but they wanted $300 for the big battery. HAHA.

Had the same thing happen (after the "refurb" came without a mark ;( ), and I used the lowest abrasive car paint rubbing compound. Got abou 3/4 of the scratch gone but now have shinly area where CF "sandy" appearance was, Depnding on the size of the scratch and how much it behered me, I would probably just leave it. If you used the same compound to polsih the whole lid. It would look very nice and be more scratch resistant; just would'nt be "authentic," which I preder.

Are you trying to put me down by implying that I'm poor? I can tell you for a fact that I totally am.

Battery is backordered, but still set to ship.

    ?

Why can't I buy one? You're not saying I'm a fanboy, I assume, because my sig shows I used to own a TZ. And surely, people are allowed to own more than one computer.

    hi kakeashi.

i was checking on the sgpstore website and it seems like this is my best alternative. would anyone know which one of these is for my sony vaio Z. My model number is Sony Vaio VPCZ 1290x.

the one i wanted to get is SGP Sony Vaio Z11 Skin Guard Set Series - Z Series - Sony - Laptops which says Sony Vaio Z11 . However, I'm not sure if this is the exact one that i should get. Any help would be appreciated.
