I have a HP DV6000 with a cracked screen. It does not have a Webcam.
Can I install a new LCD screen that has a Webcam? I could just use a USB Webcam but since I'm replacing the screen anyway, I thought about getting one with the webcam built in.
Thanks

If I remember right, all the motherboards had usb connector for internal webcam. You should check that from the service manual where you could also see all the parts necessary to perform that replacement.
Also check the prices: just the panel vs. whole display with webcam. -
Have you looked into buy a whole lid? It'll probably cost about the same and installation would be so much easier.

Usually the webcam is built into the frame itself. I think you'd be better off replacing the lcd assembly and getting an external cam. Replacing it is just a matter of finding the display screws, gently pulling off the frame cover, unscrewing the lcd assembly from the mount, and unplugging the connectors in the back.

Hey,
Thanks for the replies. I found a full LCD assembly which has the Webcam unit with it. The top cover is even much better than mine.
I got lucky. -
I posted a similar issue on the ASUS Forums:

But I guess my question to the non-ASUS owners is... do I NEED to buy an ASUS screen? As long as it's the right size, would upgrading from a 60Hz screen to a 120Hz screen require any additional modding?
(The ASUS G53SW-3D supports a 768 120Hz screen... I would really love a 1080 120Hz.)
Also, I was hoping to find a good aftermarket screen site... but all I saw in the sticky was paint jobs.
Thanks -

There is no such thing as an ASUS screen, pretty sure.
Asus buys screens from LG and samsung just like everyone else.
You NEED to buy a COMPATIBLE screen.
Most people buy laptops with nice screens, sorry. And we are in the cosmetic modifications section.... seriously? This isn't where we would have a good LCD site stickied. It would be in the hardware & aftermarket upgrades section, seeing as how its not really a custom modification.
NBR isn't big on promoting individual companies so I don't think that would happen anyway. You'll have to sort through reviews of sites, know your ISO quality standards, and watch out for all the "replacement" compatible models when people add words like "as", "like", "for" etc.
