My new 8540w just came in and I'm excited to start putting it to work. What I'm NOT excited about is a few stamped/painted decals that are bright white and ugly.
The areas that I'd like to remove are on a brushed metal surface (aluminum?) it's a gunmetal gray color. The metal doesn't appear/feel like it has any kind of coating, it's matte and a little rough (like metal, hehe).
The labels are just text, one on the lid says "Elitebook" and on the palm rest it says "MobileWorkstation".
I know it's knit-picky but I'm lame like that. Any recommendations on a removal method or product?
Thanks in advance!

They are painted. You would need to use sand paper to get rid of them. But you will also get rid of any other paint (brushed look=gone, also I think that's a mangesium alloy that has a painted brushed aluminum look to it).
If it's a label, aka a sticker, you can remove it easily however I doubt it's a sticker. Considering the quality of the 8540w's it is likely painted, and would need to be taken out with sand paper. ANY paint, including the finish of the parts will be removed by the sand paper.
To sum it up:
If you want to remove the letters, etc you will need to sand down the part down, and repaint it. For the back of the LCD cover. You will need to remove that cover/sand it down with 1000-2000 grit sand paper and repaint it.
It isn't an easy job for notebooks have many parts that may be thin enough that using lower grit paper like 300~ grit may eat too much material thus make them weak. -
Thanks Crimsoned. Appreciate the info!

You might want to just consider covering them over with a sticker that you'd like better. It'd be easier and less work.
