How easy is it to remove branding on a laptop? I currently have a clevo notebook which came with no branding on it and i think it looks quite nice. however, i'm now interested in an msi laptop but there's a badge on the back that says "gaming series" i'd like to see gone. and if i'm getting rid of that, i might as well get rid of the msi logo while i'm there.
How easy would this be to do, and what materials would i need?
The specific laptop would be an msi gs60

Bump. I would like know this as well, or if there's any good alternative solution.

This could be challenging depending on how the logo is imprinted in the back of the lid and the lid material used. The logo is a removable piece in most Clevo notebooks but not in most consumer notebooks.
Your best bet may be to cover the back of the display with something, such as automotive grade vinyl. See here: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_EU/3MGraphics/GraphicSolutions/Applications/CarWrapping/
The only problem you would run into with vinyl or any other cover would be if the logo extended outward from the lid surface. In that case I'd imagine you would need to sand off the logo which could be messy.

Always you can order the same part but without brand.

How? I don't know if we can order GS60 backbone from MSI. I know we can with clevo and GT series though.
Other solutions I have considered:
1) Buy a rebranded GS60 without the badge such as Evo15-s
2) Buy from XoticPC with skin wrap, which will still leave a shield-shape shadow
3) Remove the badge manually following the instruction here
1) and 2) are expensive for me and I don't feel comfortable doing 3) (and even if I do, I don't know what to fill the hole with), that leaves me 2 feasible options: 1) buy a cheap skin online for $20 or so and skin it myself, or 2) paint the red part of the badge to black (I can tolerate the logo if it's black).
Still looking for more suggestions.Last edited: Aug 9, 2015 -
Alternatively, just don't get the GS60.. better laptops out there around the same price range without all the thermal problems

I agree with Charles, just get something to cover it up, some type of vinyl paint or sticker to place over it. Do they make any type of laptop skin for your specific model? If not you should be able to find a custom one somewhere that you could just wrap around it.

Thanks Bytes and Charles. I have come to realize the dragon logo is not that bad after I got my hands on one, so I have learned to just deal with it.
