The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. As the title implies, post your specs. Just notebook specs though. If you have multiple notebooks, then post the specs of all of your notebooks. If you feel the need to throw in some desktop specs, then the NBR Gods will smite you. Just kidding, throw them in too if you so desire.

For the two who don't get it and the one who says that maybe I'm trying to make a successful thread for some reason. There is a reason. I made this thread for those who can't fit all of the awesomeness of their "toys" into their signatures. Also for those who just want to brag about their stuff.

Would your D620 happen to have the nVidia Quadro chip in it? If it does, then I know you must do some pretty awesome stuff with that. My uncle used to have one with the Quadro chip and he simply used it for gaming.

Well why not; these are the ones that're being used on a regular basis...

    2048MB, DDR2 800MHz
    Intel 4500MHD

    Generic 400W PSU
    Abit AN7
    Athlon XP 2500+ @ 1833MHz
    1536MB, DDR 333MHz
    Some Nvidia Quadro AGP card
Samsung RBX MLC 64GB SSD + 1500GB hot-swappable mechanical storage
    Coolermaster Centurion 590

    XP Pro

Custom tower Motoko, general purpose desktop, etc.

    Antec TruePower Trio 550W
    Gigabyte EP35-DS3R
    Pentium E2140 @ 2666MHz
    2048MB, DDR2 800MHz @1066MHz
    Nvidia 9500GT
    Samsung RBX MLC 64GB SSD
    Antec 900

    7 Pro

By far the two laptops get the most use; I only use the desktop at home, though the file server is running 24/7. Nothing particularly impressive I suppose... I guess I can only brag about all of my boot drives being solid state in some form or another... :)

Dell Inspiron 1520, vintage July 2007

    • Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
    • Hitachi TravelStar 7K320, with Hitachi TravelStar7K160 as external backup
    • GeForce 8600M GT Bumpgate Edition
    • Broadcom WiFi 1390 (with Intel 5300 in my desk)
    • 2 GB Qimonda 667 MHz DDR2 (with 4 GB Kingston 667 MHz DDR2 in my desk)
    • Windows XP Home with SP3
    • Samsung LTN154X3 1280x800 15.4-inch Matte LCD (excellent!)
    • Bluetooth Chip
    • 85 WHr (original) 9-cell battery, now 43 WHr
    • TS-L632D DVD +/- RW drive (tray-loading)
    • Dell Motherboard
    • Phoenix BIOS
    • Never-used ExpressCard slot
    • Never-used 56K modem
    • Never-used IEEE 1394 4-pin port
    • Never-used S-Video port
    • Ethernet, 4x USB 2.0, SD card, VGA ports (all used)
    • Synaptics touchpad
    • SIM-card slot, which doesn't seem to be able to do anything with my cell phone's SIM card
    • Integrated webcam, which I've yet to use
    • Foxconn LCD bezel with UL code 03598, manufactured on April 28th, 2007
    • Wanshih Corporation connector between the motherboard and screen
    • ...okay, I know you said all the specs, and I'm sure I could find the specs of a few more small components that no one really cares about if I tried, but if you really want more details, request it specifically!

The superior components that are in my desk instead of my laptop will probably go back in shortly. But Dell likes the original components to be present if there's a warranty claim, so my originals got some extra play time. And I found I can actually get along perfectly well with 2 GB of RAM in my laptop instead of 4 GB, and that a Broadcom wireless card is perfectly good for my needs.

Scary thing is the only things I looked up were the LCD bezel type, model of the screen (I knew it was Samsung), and model of the DVD drive.

And while it's not really mine, I'm borrowing a laptop from my university that has a touch screen. It's specs (in much less detail, as I don't know them as well):

    • Pentium M 758 CPU - 1.5 GHz, ULV 10W TDP
    • 1 GB DDR2 RAM (533 MHz?)
    • 60 GB, 4200 RPM, 1.8-inch Hitachi HDD (ugh!)
    • Intel integrated graphics (not sure what model, but any before X4500 is the same to me)
    • 1024x768 12-inch touchscreen LCD
    • Intel WiFi card
    • 3x USB port, Ethernet, 56K modem, SD card slot
    • XP Tablet PC Edition
    • 8-cell battery, originally 64WHr, now 25 WHr - so not really noticeably better battery life than my 15.4-inch without a ULV processor or integrated graphics

    From the top down:

Main server Shuttle G2: P4 3.2HT, 1GB RAM, 160GB sata 1, ATI x300se. Windows Home server (I included this because it weighs less then the m17x I had for a month)

    Media/file/print server Dell vostro 1700: C2D T8100, 17 WUXGA, 3GB GKILL DDR2 667 4-4-4-12, 8600m GT, 160GB 7200RPM, Windows 7 Professional 32 bit

    My main rig: Dell Studio XPS 16 i7 720QM, 15.6 LED FHD+, 4GB RAM, ATI 5730, 500GB 7200RPM, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Wifes main rig: 2007 MB 13.3in dont remeber the specs as I dont touch it often enough.

Wifes netbook: acer aspire one atom with 160GB HDD and extended 6 cell battery

Pocket rig: Palm pre (listed this due to it doing everything a netbook does)

Thinking about combining the main and media/file/print server, but as of now I like having a dedicated box for remote access and a dedicated repository and share server.

For my laptops, they're weren't supposed to be running at these specs originally when bought, but I fed them with steroids throughout the years; heck, the hell with warranty voidance.

Customized these machines not only for gaming but demanding workstation applications. Considering an i7 setup, 12 - 16GB RAM + FX3800M or higher with GDDR5 in my future purchase of a laptop to aid my photoshop and workstation needs. I don't own a notebook cooler.

Why's that? My buddy's got an almost identical notebook to the one in your sig (excepting his 500GB HDD and i7-720QM), and it's definitely got some juice. Arkham Asylum and Crysis run with decent resolutions at maxed settings.

( Please excuse the accidental double post below)

I think this was before he got the Envy 14.

And there is no way you're maxing Crysis with a 5650.
