I have an HP 17'' laptop with a cracked screen housing. It's no longer under warranty. I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you.

You can still send it in for repairs, but you'll most likely will have to pay for shipping, labor and parts. If the LCD screen itself is not damaged, and only the hinges, then the cost for repair shouldn't be that much (I'm guessing about $100 or less).

No, the screen isn't damaged. I am hoping to get some tips from people who had the same problem and were able to fix it by themselves.

SUPER GLUE!, thats what i would use.

Thanks. I have thought about using super glue, but the thing is the crack will close when the screen is in an upright position. In other words, something inside is probably knocked out of alignment and forces the corner to open up in a certain position.

I had something similar happen on an old compaq computer. All I did was firmly push the two pieces of plastic together, filled the hole with super glue, and held it ther euntil it dried. Works perfectly fine now minus the small glue smudge on the outside.

well, you may have a look inside the panel first.
Hp provides manuals for repair and service works you can do yourself. they have these manuals for all new models and most of the older ones ( 2-4) years.
in there is the procedure how to disassemble the notebook and the screen. you may wanna try looking inside before you "glue" it.
Please help with cracked screen!!!
