    You cannot run Coffee Lake on the P870DM2, Even if you could in proper the mod seems to be limited to core i3 processors. If you want to really badly you could do a motherboard swap with a little elbow grease to update it to a franken-TM unit...some users have successfully done such things in the past~

    Its not but its not really recommended... the system as a whole is designed with a specific uarch and feature set in mind, and the process of getting coffee onto a board made for skylake isn't pretty. Is it doable? yeah, but as an experiment or funsies thing, don't assume you can make it a daily driver. Even then, the performance uplift from 6700k to 8400 may not be that beneficial especially when looking at an overclocked 6700k.

    8700k works on predecessor p870dm. 8700k on dm2/dm3 is just a matter of time.
