I just noticed your avatar size limit is 42kb+

Think the mods can get an upgrade to 30kb+ ;) My animated gif is pretty bad in quality lol.

Anyways, got pics? It can't be that bad.....can it?

Silver touchpad buttons, and next step is piano striped keyboard to go with the black theme. The buttons still need a good wet sand and polish, this was just a shot after ~5 layers of silver paint.

Nice, I wouldn't have the patience to do that.

Someday I would like to cover the lid of my S96J with carbon fiber, one of these days I'll get around to it.

Looks fine, but the base 'grainy' layer that is default on it may be a hassle to deal with if you leave it.

Looks good so far :D :D

I'm not sure what "piano striped keyboard to go with the black theme" means. Some white, and some black keys so it looks like a piano keyb?? Or something else? Please explain.

This should probably be moved to the Cosmetic Mods section. If only there was a mod or admin *cough* available to move it :D :D :D

I want to get a black and white line theme going on similar to a piano. Still not sure if I want to do whole keys as a single color, or go for a more straight up and down look with some keys dual color.

    Very cool!!

Let us know how it goes and show pics when done. Ihave a fairly involved project I want to do and the keyb painting is why I am hesitating (Involves painting a textured look onto the keys).

Keys I am thinking of ways I could paint them and still retain some of the markings since they are raised above the surface slightly. A few light coats of paint sprayed might still have the markings peaking through.

You can order a keyboard from Lenovo to experiment on. It's relatively easy to replace the keyboard, and won't void warranty. You can also paint completely over the keys and replace them with some sort of clear sticker. http://www.latkey.com/shortcuts_stickers.asp

Otherwise, the buttons look good. I contemplated painting mine to match the smoke color on the colorware site, but decided it wasn't worth the risk of a new computer. Keep us posted.

a lot of places can re-screen the key markings for you... ive done this with radio faceplates in cars that we have molded into (fiberglassed) people dashes or mirrors etc..
