Now that www.smoothcreations.com is not taking custom orders (only painting their own from what they told me). Anyone recommend another shop to do something like that? I'm looking to get mine painted with automotive paint plus an airbrushed graphic on the lid. Thanks!

I will still use Smooth for my custom jobs but then we sorta have an existing relationship. Sorry but there are others who can help you. Check this forum for a few people who seem reputable.

So technically I could tell them you referred me? Because this will affect in a way who I buy my notebook from if I know I can't send it in to SmoothCreations to have it done.

i always tell people they should use Smooth and have been referring people to them for years. I can't say it will help you now tho. I can only say they will still do work for me personally but that probably is no help for you. I think you should really consider buying one from them. Call and speak with Ashely about it and you can tell them you conversed with me about it on the forums and I recommended you contact them.

Firstly, thank you all for the info! I have contacted Laptop Design USA already, and I am awaiting their reply to my questions in email.

As for Smoothcreation... I really wanted them to be able to work on my laptop, seeing some of the great work they have down in the past. But seeing their site now, they seemed to be more of a reseller, and provide paintjobs for the systems you buy from directly rather than taking 3rd party laptops and painting them, I was curious whether or not they would still perform painting for people sending them their PCs. Therefore, I wrote them a short email inquiring whether or not they would still do custom painting, and here was the reply I recieved.

Thank you for your interest in our services. At this time we are no longer
taking orders to paint third party systems. This is a services we would like
to offer again in the future, but at this time we do not have an estimate on
    when that will be.

If you have any other questions, please contact us.

    Thank you,

Well they have to do their systems and they still do a ton of work for Alienware (all the Superman laptops and mALX laptops) and they have the Coolermaster cases to paint as well. I personally will order my next laptop
    from Smooth.
