I think it would be a good idea for gaming notebooks to have retractable mouse pad trays. A tray built into the notebook that you can slide out the right side of the notebook and use an external mouse. See picture below.

If 15-17" gaming notebooks had these, gamers could use the laptop on their lap and be able to use an external mouse.

    What do you all think?

If it was solid and not bouncy it would be fantastic.. If i am at school i have to use the space beneath the arrow buttons lol, sucks.

I dont think Id use a gaming notebook on my lap in fear of burning my legs. But still a pretty cool idea.

Vote for no. Just looks goofy. Diving board for mouse.

Well, this isn't a "custom" build, but if you're looking for something portable to add wrist support if you're using the laptop on a surface like a table or desk, these things are pretty decent:

I ordered the basic model at the top from DealExtreme and it works pretty well; it stays attached more solidly than you'd expect. That website I linked isn't the main company's website...You can find it through Google; they have a few different models.

Now I'm pretty much realizing this isn't at all what you were thinking of when you started the thread, but I'll go ahead and post the reply anyway just in case it appeals as a substitute to anyone.

I'm not so sure. I most 15.4" gaming laptops, there may not even be enough room to cram in a solid tray.
