For $6 they seem like a good price. Just make sure the wipes are LCD friendly.

    Should be fine though..

for lcd screens I have always used diluted rubbing alcohol on microfibre cloths.
It works very well, and I have never had any problems caused from it.
If you like, go to a local optometry shop and they usually have microfibre cloths which they sell or will give to you.
I get all of my cloths from my optometrist and she never has a problem giving them to me.

I'm not sure what it is exactly I clean my screen with, it's labelled as LCD cleaner. That and a microfibre cloth.

For the exterior of the notebook, I use motorcycle polish, lol.

Where do you guys pick up your microfiber cloths? I had two for my glasses but always end up losing them. The closest optometrist in the mall has crap clothes (bad thread counts I think), any good sites?

you can find a bundle of microfiber towels/cloths at an auto parts store. I bought like a bundle (10pc) for about 5 bucks. And they work miracles on the screens. You don't even have to spray the lcd screen most of the time.

But they are really good on my clear coat. My car scratches real easily. Stupid Infiniti and their crappy paint.

    @new_found_glory

bro, you can buy microfiber fabrics at www.radtech.us
this here is sold to protect screen from keyboards but also make great cleaning cloth... it's a very high quality microfiber... unlike what you'll find in car shops...

@jibberjabbers, car cleaning cloths are great... but not the best out there... sorry bro...

Just wondering, is it safe to use car polish on laptops to make it shine? If no what do you guys use / recommend to make glossy body laptops shine? Thanks!

if your lappy has been painted and gloss coated, sure... go ahead...

if it is a plastic surface or any other stock surface, i prolly would not use car polish and wax on your lappy...

my voodoo was painted and clearcoated... car polish does nice job at it.. but i did not like one thing...

13 lbs laptop + slippery surface = fail

there actually are differences in microfibre cloths.
The name implies micro meaning small. The cloths are usually running 1200-2000 threads per inch in micro fibre cloths. The material they are made out of makes the difference. Stay away from the synthetic stuff, cotton and rayon are the best for buffing and cleaning the surface. You want a very soft material, so that it does not create tons of surface scratches.

I've been using microfibers for years, no problem with them at all. Heck, the microfibers I use pick up streaks, dusts and fingerprints w/o using any LCD solutions at all.

Microfibers cloths are a amazing. Try wiping off the LCD with a regular LCD rag, it won't work as good as Microfibers.

    ---------

Also, microfibers cloths all are all synthetics. I never herd of any made from Cotton. I don't think it's even possible.

Jibber is right, Microfibers are made of polyester, not natural cotton fibers.
i've worked with Toray, Itochu, Teijin, Kolon and many other fabric mills across Korea, China and Japan with fabric R&D... that's my business... and not all microfibers are the same...

anything where a fiber is less than 1 denier is categorized as microfiber...
now you take the fiber and you can weave a dense and coarse fabric, or you can weave a nice soft supple fabric.

weatherproof jackets, the ones that look like your grand dad should wear... they are microfiber fabric of the korean source... nice fabric, and it's brushed so that it actually have water repelling character.

one new fabric development from Japan was a microfiber fabric so dense that it is actually waterproof, more waterproof than a PU coated fabric.
you take this fabric and rub it against your clearcoat... and you'll be crying...i know... i have probably the ONE AND ONLY down jacket made with this fabric... (fringe benefits... ha ha ha)

even if you look at those fabric patches they give you at glasses shops...

the cheapest and oldest kind was brushed cotton flannel... these are lint factories and though they will absorb moisture, does not protect much.

there's the woven kind of microfibers... these are the ones where you can see the weave patterns of the fabric with just a simple magnifying glass... these are better... soft to the touch... but then still not the best...

theres the woven kind that's sanded or sometimes refereed to as Peached... as in peach skin/fuzz... they are softer and these start to offer water repellency as the weatherproof jackets.

then there's the sueded ones... where you take the peaching and sanding to a greater level and you create a imitation suede... this is what you want...
this is the RADTECH fabric that i have...

get a patch of this and wipe your screen... sucks up grease and cleaning sprays and leaves a nice clean.

so... in conclusion... not hype son... 20 years of experience in garment/textile industry in making different kinds of microfibers and applying it in garments.

Well, you could always use Armor All or a similar product. No matter what, whatever you use it on will have a slightly slippery feel to it, but if you wipe off the item you apply the Armor All to after you put the stuff on there, it shouldn't be too bad. I use Armor All on my laptops and have never had problems with slipperyness.

That's the first I've heard of someone using Armor All, sounds like a good idea to me. You're not wiping it on the LCD right? Or is that okay too?

This usually causes more problems in the long run, not to mention the greesy feeling a lot of the armor all products have.

    hmmm
well to check back what I got with my system from my painter, it looks like its just a very nice cleaning rag and no a microfibre cloth. I thought it was a micro cloth, but I guess it does not classify as one since its rather spongy or however you want to call it.
Sorry, listen to Kinghong, he knows this stuff like the palm of his hand.

i've always used Monster iClean from amazon for my displays. it works real well and comes with a good microfiber cloth. I know people hate monster but this is actually a good product and isn't overpriced. to clean the body of my laptop i use either sanitizing wipes from lysol or rubbing alcohol
