Ok so I open my laptop one day only to see a corner of my laptop broken. It seems a metal piece in there melted so it lose the screw and broke the circle where the screw is suppose to go. Anywho, I just want to know where I can order a new frame and get it fix or do you know how much will it cost to get someone to fix it? I tried fixing it myself and it did not work; I can't even close the screen down or it will crack the rest of the screen and it won't even hold the screen steady up.

So here are the pics concerning my problem:

what type of notebook is it?

did you call up the manufacturer? Probably spend an hour on the phone but they might have an overstock pile somewhere if its not to old.

is it just the plastic that broke, was it a rivet? or was it a screw and the thread stripped?

You might be able to take off the whole front piece and somehow epoxy the cracked portion, then put some duck tape tightly on the side you wont see, which would strenghten it then put a washer and screw back onto it fastening the plate back down.....it might look odd with the washer, but it would probably be $50 cheaper

I have a MSI 1039 it is past warranty and the metal part that the screw is supposed to go into is kind of like melted. I tried tapping it to see if it hold, but it does not work, it needs the metal to be connected to the screw in order for it to fold down and close.

After trying the manufacturer, check ebay. You may be able to find a parts donor.

So is my problem called a frame or is there another terminology for it? So I know what to search for, because typing frame google does not understand.

lcd surround - but I doubt you will find one for puchase on the 'net. Also you may need more than just the surround.

buy a whole (broken) MSI 1039 on ebay or call the manufaturer for parts.

This piece is usually called the Frame Bezel. Similar thing happened with my Inspiron 6400. The grooves when the screw is supposed to tighten broke (very stupidly they were made of plastic) so I had to order a new front bezel since Dell wouldn,t repay "esthetic problems". This kind of component is usually easy to find on ebay and maybe 2 or 3 other vendors on the web. Of course, it helps a lot if you can manage to find the part number.
