Well, I have several desktops and lots of fans sitting around, so I thought why not :) I tested it with my Macbook Pro 17and Asus G51Vx(Specs are in my sig) with 3dmark06

    Here it is: [IMG]

It is made from a desktop PC and 2 120mm fans. I wired them to run off an AC/DC adapter.

Test 1: Macbook on cooler running 3dmark06: [IMG]

Here's a screen shot of the score and temps: [IMG]

And now the Macbook not on a cooler: [IMG]

Here's a screen shot of the score and temp while not on the cooler: [IMG]

    Now for my Asus G51Vx:

    Asus G51Vx on cooler: [IMG]

Here's a screen shot of the score and temps: [IMG]

Here's it is not on a cooler: [IMG]

And the screen shot of the score and temps: [IMG]

Ok, so in the end, it took a few degrees off each component. It also let the Macbooks fans run 450rpm slower and still have a lower GPU temp. Next I should put LED fans in.

If you can take the back cover off the ASUS, you should see way better temps with your cooler.

I think its 3dmark06. The latest 259 Nvidia drivers dropped my GPU temp by 8C though.

What you should try to do is trap the air underneath your laptop. I did this on my laptop cooler and even made some guides around the fan to direct airflow into my laptop vents.
