I am going to build a laptop but I am wondering two questions. First is it possible to make a bare bone or do I HAVE to buy a pre-made one and if so what is a good company for buying one. My second question is would it be safe to put a logo on it like cut a logo out.
Many thanks

I expect it's possible to do so... at least install your own CPU, hard drive, RAM, and maybe GPU. See this thread. You might find this and this helpful as well..
I guess stuff like screen, speakers, motherboard, wireless card, etc. could work too, but you'd really have to know what you're doing for some of those. I'm not an expert. K-TRON would be the one to talk to as regards the electrical specifications and case modification. -
I think it is a little different with building a PC. Read some posts here about guys upgrading their laptop/notebooks to have more information.
But, you should buy a laptop first, then have it upgraded later, there are ofcourse compatibility issues on buying components for upgrades. COnsider those when buying your first laptop (taking note that you will upgrade some parts in the future).
Good luck man. -
you cant build one like u would a desktop
as the case and the motherboard are matched, so you couldn't pick a case u like and fit any laptop motherboard
cases are made to fit the motherboard by the manufacturers
so you are limited to what u can pick yourself.
there are very few standardised parts in the laptop world unlike desktops were everything it standardised -
You can buy barebones laptops from places like AVAdirect and RKcomputers. These barebones usually come with everything except the CPU, HDD, RAM, Network card, and other random accessories. The screen and sometimes the GPU can be swapped, but it is almost never cost effective to buy a mobile GPU, if you can even find one that fits and is an upgrade.
Basically, you can sometimes save some cash building from a barebones, especially if you buy an ES CPU from ebay, but you mostly do it for the experience. -
I answered your PM, moneyman
Sorry If I sounded any harsh. Building your own laptop is a real undertaking, one in which you need to be fully invested in the project, or else you will end up wasting your time and money at a cost of being frustrated.
If you want to continue, feel free to PM me,
