Ok, bear with me here; this is not going to come off as the brightest idea, and you can rightfully question why in earth you would ever go through the hazzle of doing it, but i have been poundering this idea for a while. (*Also, i do realize that if at all possible, it will take alot of modification to the orig. case and whatnot.)

The question is, as topic; - Would it be possible to make the laptop screen extendable. Say i would like to take the screen, and only the screen to the bedroom, but is on the road and do not have access to a external monitor solution or the like, would it be possible, technicly speeking, to make the laptop screen extendable? If we disregard the issue of actually modding the laptop screen itself to be removable from the computer itself (which i am sure is quite a hazzle in itself), is the idea at all plausible?

(If i was to give it a try, my ginnypig would be a Sony Vaio SZ2XP, if that is at all relevant to the question.)

    Any input appreciated.

I suppose you can do it without modifying anything.

    You'll need about $400 budget.
    1) get a wireless usb transmitter
    2) get a wireless usb receiver
    3) get a usb monitor or a compatible digital photo frame
    4) Get a battery pack for your digital frame and usb receiver.

Or you can look at it another way.
Get a netbook or PDA and use remote desktop or similar software to "control" your computer. That way, you can use your computer or use it as a portable monitor in your bedroom.
