    Hey,

I'm looking to mod my acer aspire 1694WLMi and i need to disassemble it for a repaint. My issue is that when i searched for the SERVICE MANUAL for the aspire 1690 on the acer support website, all i got was the user guide, and there is nowhere that i can find a service manual which shows how one can go about dismounting not just the LCD screen back cover but also the entire keyboard/touchpad cover.

i already have a professional company (DULUX) ready with a special paint for my laptop to be coated with but their only condition is for me to get them only the panels without the hardware to avoid any risk of damage...

any help will be greatly appreciated as i'm sorta desperate

It looks like your best bet is to slowly take apart your system, noting and taking pictures of how everything went together.

If you have a video camera that would work too.

I have a great memory, and I am very tech savvy, so I usually know how to put everything together.

Dont worry about taking your system apart, just dont yank on an of the components, and keep them safe and dry when you go to paint it.

WHen taking apart the components, tape the screws onto the part, so you know which screws hold what in.

Good luck, I know its hard for people on their first rebuild.

thanks a lot k-tron. i managed to disassemble the laptop last night, wasn't much of a drag....

now i know i'm posting this in the wrong section of the forum, but is it possible to change the speakers on this acer notebook? as everyone is well aware that acer notebooks don't exactly feature the best sound system on board...

    thanks again mate...

well it would be pretty hard to put in different speakers.. you would have to find ones that are better then the ones you have, but still the same size and same wattage.. i would just leave em and get external speakers..
