I have a HP DV5000 laptop. I don't know what the hell he did but a small portion of the speaker grille looks like it has been scratched off so I can see the silver behind the black paint now. That part looks like its receded also because the paint is missing. Is there a way I can replace the whole grille? Please advice on what to do please. I'm freaking out right now.

Here's the portion that's messed up just to make it clear.

maybe a permanent black marker would help?

I second that. My HP ZV5000 has a similar grill and the paint wore off to silver, so I used a permanent black marker and good as new.

Its the cheapest and safest solution. Replacing the whole grill would be very expensive to do for such a minor cosmetic damage.

Why don't you just get rid of it? I'll take it off your hands and you can buy a new one. :p

Maybe you can clear the paint on all that region uniformly, it would give it a little something extra.
