ei guys... i wanna paint my lappy but I'm really afraid to do so practically because i have no experience in doing this job...

I just want to paint the outside cover of my LCD.. but i'm not sure the paint might ruin my lcd. is there any chance of this?

Is it possible to paint my lcd without detaching it from lappy?

I really want my lappy to have fresh look preferably red but i just don't have the guts to do it.

i would think it is as long as you control overspray for stuff like spray paint. just to make sure you dont get in any cracks and jam up some little switch. i would definatly make sure that everything you dont want painted is covered. another thing you should look at is what type of paint your using and if it will stick to the laptop surface. you definatly wouldnt want to use any acrylics or anything.

if you do decide to paint make sure to post a picture of how it turned out.

    Painting is NOT safe.

If you have any of the following:

    - Never did a paint job
    - Never disassembled a laptop
    - Cannot recover financially from a big mistake
    - Afraid of voiding the warranty

I strongly advise you against doing a paintjob.

I am about to finish mine, and I've spent about a month doing so, taking my time and taking notes.

It is not possible to do a neat job without disassembling, so basically only that step is an adventure by itself :)

it would be risky but if you did a really good tape job and made sure to not concentrate on risky areas and maybe used an airbrush. i would be careful about warranty though.

no matter how careful you are taping, you're either going to end up with bleeding or a ****py edge because you didn't take the tape off in time. the best way by far of doing this is by taking the laptop completely apart and painting the piece completely and properly. you want to get all edges really well, because they are where chips will likely come from and ruin the paintjob.

Really, I wouldn't recommend painting any laptop that is still under warranty. An excellent alternative would be one of the "skin" companies that can print you a huge vinyl decal that is removable. http://www.polygfx.com is one of these vendors. Plus you can get any image you want put on there.

You can also try having a professional do it for you but it will cost a few hundred bucks (200-400+) check out smoothcreations.com and Godfearingkustoms
