The original paint is chipping off, and I'm noticing a slight crack on palm rest above the PCMCIA slot. I want to paint this to make it look nicer, but I also don't want to go a week without a laptop... is there a quick way to paint and put it back together? I looked at some Krylon Fusion paint, the one that's made for plastics... do I need to sand off the original paint? or can I just apply it ontop.

EDIT: Is there a disassembly guide?

you have to remember paint needs to cure...its not 100% hard right away. it is best to let it sit for a while.

you could use sem brand plastic dye then a thin layer od sem plastic clear. its wat we re-paint the interior pieces in cars with after we custom mold them or modify them. gives that oem texture and look/feel to it to. its just not super shiny like a high gloss paint would be

dissasemble i cant help with on that system. if it was me id simply start at the bottom and work me way up being careful while removing scres and labeling them to reassemble to later

what's the cure time on that? and I guess I can pick up the materials at some automotive store? would it be a better idea to use CF vinyl? That wouldn't need to cure right? and I wouldn't need to disassemble?

EDIT: I was looking on eBay and found some 2.5mil CF vinyl... isn't that a bit thick? I mean it'll add thickness, would my lid have problems closing? Also what's the difference between CF1/2/3?

Krylon fusion would work fine and will dry overnight.

where exactly is the crack?? you may want to fix it first (with super glue?) especially if you are comfortable taking it apart.

you could also fix it and then cover it with a vinyl sticker (depending on the location of the crack)

the crack is right above the pcmcia slot. well my keyboard broke... so i sent it back to acer, also mentioned the case, so they might replace it.

So Krylon fusion will dry in 24hrs and I can put it back together? I was looking at it and it says 7day cure time.
