I want to build a custom cooling pad preferably from Plexiglas (sp?) sides and bottom to having a metal mesh top that I can put my vantec tornadoes in.
How do you work with Plexiglas and metal mesh to connect them? Never used Plexiglas before.
I plan on making it big enough to fit a 17 inch laptop if i ever buy a new laptop that is bigger so i have room to play. The metal mesh i want to use so i can adjust fan place meant if needed for better cool/different laptops. I have to make this pretty deep because my current set up is using a rosewill cooler with the 3 fans and the fans are deeper than the cooling pad so I have it on books so the fans can get airflow lol. dunno... but lower cfm fans should still be enough for a laptop... or get 120mm fans that runs quieter...
that fan looks loud.
if i must blow that much air, i'd just increase size of cooler and use 2x 120mm fans place the air exhaust right under your intake of your laptop.
tap plastics have good instructional vids... and i'm sure google and youtube will be of great help.

meh, instead of metal mesh all under the laptop, again, i'd place the exhaust right under the areas needed most... but to answer your question, drill holes, tap and use machine screws... counter sink if you want neater look.
again, looks loud... dB scale is exponential iirc... ie, 80dB is 2x loud as 70dB...
56 dB and a 92mm fan pushing excess of 100cfm... i'm concerned...

i run them at 5v not 12v so they are fairly quite because i am using a 5v adpater and spliced it. I need an adapter that can vary voltage. See here:

I tried the one at walmart and it doesn't even turn one fan.
Also the mesh is to adjut the fans for future laptops. i cna screw it in anywhere with ease. Thinking of longevity of build (also different sizes) Also reason for the 92mm is i already own them from eyars and years ago.
