I didnt know where else to post this so I figured this is the 'general' board.

I have an ASUS S96J for a year and the pads are completely black almost. Filled with nasty looking grease/oil stains.

Is there any way to clean this **** up? It looks bad and I cant even bring it to school .. people always ask what happened to it.

Do you mean the touchpad? It may not be grease, the surface of the pad may be worn from use.

If you're sure the stuff is grease, try a bit of Goo Gone on it.

Do not bypass the censor, it's there for a reason.

Do you have any pictures of the damage? I would wonder if some kind of household grease-removing product would do the trick. You'd want to be very careful, of course, and test on a discrete area first. The other option people seem to do is put some kind of sticker or covering over the palmrest area. Either that or get a nice black abs plastic laptop like a Thinkpad ;)

Good link. I would agree that this could be complete wearing/paint removal. My w3j is about 2 months old and the touch pad buttons are going fast (turning permanently black instead of silver)

if its wear you could always use some thinner or similar and lightly remove the rest of the silver to make them fully black.
