Hi,
Maybe it is not a problem but for long-run work with my laptop, it appears as a problem. Right palm-rest is warm, but for long-typings I am looking for a material that I can put under my right palm for heat isolation.
Do you know something about this kind of materials, products???
Thank you,
-
I dont know of any such product, you could put a cloth, maybe a leather case. What notebook do you have?
-
I have a Sony Vaio S5M which is S580 in US. In the right palm side, it is installed a Fujitsu 80GB SATA hdd. It is warm and tolerable but with such a product I think it will be pretty OK.
I am open to any ideas -
Put the notebook infront of an air-conditioner
-
I also thought that but I have to carry the conditioner everywhere which is very difficult for me so I need more brilliant ideas
But thank you,
-
heh well atleast I tried
.
I dont know what you could do, what notebook do you have and what specs does it have? -
You can find things like that, but none made specifically for notebooks. Maybe something used in industry or electric engineering. If you know someone who works in those fields, it might be a good place to start asking.
I am sure there are heat insulating material that is made into thin sheets, it's not exactly rocket science, you just need to figure out where to get it!
-
Or you could try making something yourself
.

Dear qwester and aer0sense, thank you for your interest. I also think your solution which is more practical, because I cannot find such an end-product by google. 5 X 10 cm and a very thin material would be enough.
I have to find someone in those domains to find a suitable material.

Thin sheets of Kevlar would do it. It is available, albeit from specialist safety equipment suppliers, in a wide range of strengths and thicknesses. Lots of motorcycle equipment and clothing have thin layers of protective Kevlar weaved into them.
Not sure about cost or practicality, but it would definitely work!
Or Nomex... -
Thanks in advance for your suggestion. Do you have some links or further information about Kevlar or Nomex?
[I have started to search over the net] http://www.dupont.com/kevlar/ I think you mean this
-
Sorry, no further direct info. I have used thin, pure Kevlar weave, safety gloves, and know that they make for great insulation as well as toughness. Somewhere a safety goods supplier or manufacturer will have sheets of the material, which may or may not be usable. Yes, it is dupont Kevlar, butr is made under license by many companies. Nomex is a bit more specialized, but Kevlar seems to be used everywhere these days. I even have Kevlar watch straps!
The rest is up to you! Google, and the local Yellow Pages will be your friend.
Good luck, let us know what you do, I think it is an ineresting idea. -
Again thank you, I have sent some e-mails to the retailers about the issue. I will let you know about any developments, it is really an interesting idea
