Does anyone know if there is anyway to modify the HP dv9700t Radiance Imprint Finish? I don't really care for the design but may buy this laptop for the bang-for-the-buck features, as it has a $400 off coupon right now. I did like the Wave Imprint Finish featured on other models but would settle for plain, piano finish, gloss black. Could I just sand it out and paint over it? I guess it's a resin finish. Thx :)

Use a skin from www.skinit.com. You risk damaging it by modifying it destructively.

Didn't know about these. Thanks much. :) Don't see the dv9700 listed yet but I'll ask them. May be the same as the dv9500. Thx. BTW, have you used one of these? Just wondering how long it lasts. Thx.

BTW, FWIW, I waited too long to purchase the HP dv9700t. The coupon used up its allotment and expired this morning before I had a chance to get it. A good lesson for me about how this works and one I'm sure most of you already know. Oh, well. Snooze you lose. :)

bce111, There will be another really good coupon in a couple weeks. Just keep looking. Don't pay full price for a laptop.

Im not sure what coupon code you are planning to use. I was planning to buy this and my plans shattered because of the coupon...

NB9300 is the one i tried to use. It said it doesnt expire till 1/22, OR until supplies last, well i guess they "ran out" or something because it doesnt work anymore. Just a heads up. if you have found a new one, PLEASE PM Me! Thanks.

    Hope I could Help

I know. I thought they may come out with a new one today as one expired yesterday. Still waiting. :)

Yes I've seen the finish and it's great but I don't like that design myself. Just a personal preference. But I can use a skin. I really like the piano black around the screen especially. Sets it off. It's cool. I will check out your blog. Thanks. :)

That's the one I tried to use too but it expired in only 3 days, the day before I tried to use it. There's a coupon notification link here on this site to be alerted of new hp coupons. http://www.notebookreview.com/hp_Coupon.asp But it doesn't seem to have all the latest coupons. And BTW when I called hp to try to use that code they told me it expired but would give me an extra $100 off anyway. So that would have been $250 off instead of $400. I almost did it anyway but I'm just trying to be patient. But they have other deals involved now which expire on 1/29 so don't want to wait too long. Also they said if I order it and a better deal comes along within 21 days they'll honor that deal and kick me back some money. So that's cool.

Thanks for the heads up on that. Actually that sounds pretty good. I was thinking about a Blu-Ray disc player though and the Duo Core T7500 chip but it does have more RAM and a bigger hard drive. But RAM is cheap and I was going to upgrade to 4GB anyway. Thanks though. Didn't see it on their website yet. I guess they sent you a flier right? :)

I ordered the same one on the 4th but the only difference is I got the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) and the LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support. Mine was only $998, :) There was a $500 off coupon that I mentioned. Just got it yesterday. It's great. :) You know Toshiba announced today they will quit making the HD DVD drives. Blu-Ray won out. You'll love your laptop when you get it. It's great. Seriously considering formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Vista to lose all the bloatware which is enormous.
