I am looking at getting an HDTV come closer to Christmas time. I'm wondering what people here have used as computer monitors because I will be hooking a desktop I am building up to it as a media center/gaming PC. I have a nice laptop that I use for homework and everyday tasks but I want one to hook up to a TV to play my games on and stuff while I am home.
I have family/friends that work at ABC Warehouse so I can a TV for a really good price through them, so as long as it retails right around $1,000 or just a bit more I'm cool with it. I am also looking for 1080p and bigger than 32". I know this seems like a lot of stipulations but I've seen them retail for $1,000 - $1,300. Thanks for any suggestions.

Most all should do fine. Just make sure you have the 1080p.
-
Make sure you pay attention to the pixel response time if you're getting a LCD.
-
Well what is a decent pixel response time for using an LCD tv as a monitor then?
-
I just have to say, nothing beats gaming on a 55'' Sony in HD... So fun.

I have 37" 1080P Samsung and I really like it. Great TV for under $1000.

for gaming and sports, u'll want somethin in the 4 or 5 ms response time range or lower. the best thing to do is just goto a big store and check out the tv's in person. if possible, find a store that has competent workers that can tune the picture quality correctly. -
I agree... also look online at the manuals for specific TV's you're considering. Some of them only support specific resolutions/connections. In addition look at audio video boards to see if anyone else has tried those specific TV's.
When I bought my LCD I was looking for a passable image at a low price and I got what I paid for. I love it for what it is but I could never use it with my laptop (I tried for giggles) -
32 inch 720 p for mebut id reccomend a 42 or 47 inch samsung 1080p
