Looks amazing so far, but I would've recommended an aluminum/copper based cooler to act as a heat sink, lowering temps even further.

No need... its only moving air into the chassis vents, the laptop still sits on its feet which gives it rubber isolation. In fact heat would be detrimental to what it does.

Very cool idea! How much were materials? I also noticed something in one of your pictures, the stickers from your notebook. How in the heck did you get them off without ruining the rubber coating?????????

the plexi was about 25.00, the fans I had from my old CLC days, they are canon parts from a projector, 24v and move a lot of air!.The real benefit is in the location of the air being pushed, it picked up opposite the Jx exhaust and intake is on the side. its ports are all the intakes from the Jx.

as for the stickers i just peeled them.. I then used one of the stickers and reapplied momentarily over what was left and peeled it again...little by little more goo is picked up from the sticker, all said and done just clean it or use the rub method to get the goo off..

nice project. this is certainly one of the less ghetto home made coolers i've seen on NBR. +rep

those fans are similar to the scrolling type of fans that are used in custom audio trunk setups. those kinds of fans might not look like they move as much air, but u'd be surprised.

Yea the fans move a lot of air but can have a noise penalty if used at max power, I would put then up against 100mm fans. keep in mind they are 24v fans! at 12v or less they are quiet though.

I ran some tests usin 3d mark vantage reading from hw monitor

    stock
cpu idle is 52 with a high on jane nash of 71
gpu 60 idle with a high of 85, this is all stock.

    with the cooler on 9v
cpu idle goes to 44 with a high of 67
gpu idle of 46 and a high of 84

    cooler at 24v
cpu idle is at 40 with a high of 63
gpu idle at 39 and a high of 76

Now I have heat sinks and ICD7 just haven't run further tests. I'm sure there's easily 3-5* off max temp full system and cooling power on. It works very well.

I will admit if I did it again I would do a few things different.

    Nice custom cooler, +rep

Its really nice that have been able to lower it from 80C, im still not there yet, i cant seem to be able to sustain lower than 80s (the fan speed lowers once it comes down to 78C).

Would you mind running Furmark 1.8.2 for 17min (settings in the image below). F9 you can take a screenshot.

Running it at 12V, what kind of noise are you seeing (I suppose hearing in this case).

Still waiting to get it back, they swapped my 1080p screen out for a 1366x768 ..not happy, it went back 1 hour after I opened it up.

At 12v you could hear it , comparable to the G51s fan when kicked in over 84*C .. I compare when I get it back...again :-(
