If you are an IBM fan and loved the T40 series, then you might likely miss the red trackpoint buttons on your FrankenPad or generally on your T60 to T500 series ThinkPad. Luckily there is a way around this by removing the trackpoint buttons and frame from a X200 keyboard, modifying it and gluing it onto a T60 keyboard. There is no wrong or correct way of doing it, just figure out something that works well for you.
All I can say is, I really love the red trackpoint buttons and it makes my FrankenPad so much more enjoyable to me, even if it's just because of the more unique appearance.

... and T40 (along with its successors) was the prettiest ThinkPad ever IMO...

The red stripe certainly adds a nice touch. The best looking thinkpad I ever owned was my old T41P. If I could somehow replicate that on my T410 that would be pretty cool.
Your frankenpad is quite a nice machine.
