Sup guys I finally did it. I replaced the black E1705 Keyboard with the much sleeker M1710 keyboard. Tell me what you guys think. My wife hates it but it's kind of growing on me. Opinions please. Thx!

Different! Not a huge fan because of the lack of contrast...but it's certainly personal preference and as long as you like it, I like it! :)

hey, its your laptop, and only our opinion matters =]

i personally thinks that the black looks a bit better, because the current inspirons have way too much silver on it already.

Looks good. It has a clean, could've come from the factory but didn't look.

I actually think it looks sweet, in my opinion its much better the the black on silver as you would find stock. Thanks a lot you made my I6400 jealous.

Even with the lack of contrast, it looks better than the stock black one. I must say, with Black, white, and silver on the front, the Inspiron line looks rather busy color wise. I like this much more. Now if you paint the borders silver, you can give the whole laptop a flat silver look...which might not be a good thing.

now if you leave the keyboard black and paint the "bumpers" black, that would look rly good IMO

I like the look. The black keyboard was a tad boring, imo.

Thx! Yeah I don't know why Dell is putting a black keyboard on everything but the XPS M1710. Honestly, I think all of their laptops should ship with either a silver or white keyboard. IMO they should have made the keyboard customisable so that people could choose between black, silver, or even a white keyboard. *shrugs* but I guess it's a marketing thing.

I prefer the black keyboard. More contrast. But I think if the bumpers were black as well as the keyboard, the E1705 would look great! :)

Some one did that with an old 6000D (E1505 with PenM) and it did look really nice.

I do like the silver better, but those white bumpers are still a bit off-putting for me.

I think it looks better than with a black keyboard.

    Hi, iluvpcs.

I really like the silver keyboard - it gives your notebook an extremely clean, sleek, and stylish look.

I agree that it would be great if Dell offered different keyboard colour options - I imagine the machines would also look good with white keyboards. I wasn't too keen on Dell's white bumpers initially, but they are starting to grow on me (well, they have to really ... I've recently ordered a 6400 (E1505)!) and I now think that the combination of silver and white looks very bright and fresh.

Jason and Vivek, I also really like |mark84|'s painted 6000, which has a totally different look. The black keyboard works brilliantly with the black bumpers to create a bold, striking appearance: |mark84|'s Inspiron 6000 :)
