    Hi!

Just wondering... do you like removing the stickers when you buy a new computer? And if so, which ones? Because there are different "kinds" (so I may call them) There is, generally,

    1) The ones that are big and right under your palms, mostly with the computers characteristics and such

    2) The warning and caution labels (generally transparent)

    3) The Intel Centrino, Windows Vista, ATI / nVidia, etc.

Which ones, if so, do you remove? I just bought a HDX 9200 and removed 1# and #2... don't think I'll remove #3!

Hope to hear from you guys

On my Dells, I've only had OS and CPU stickers, and I keep them. I added a Ubuntu sticker! I would lose #1 and #2 if I had them. :D

    Cheers...

I peel off every single sticker before I even boot my new laptop -- I can't stand them.

I paid for the laptop, not the stickers.

A bottle of isopropyl alcohol and some elbow-grease, and they #3 stickers will peel right off. Also, an eraser works really well for getting the sticker residue off.

    I first remove windows logo's.
    Then warning info.
    Then energy stickers.
I tend to leave CPU/GPU stickers.

#1 definitely, #2 sometimes, unless they're on the bottom of the laptop. Usually don't touch #3.

eBay possibly? Seems to me there's loads of different logo stickers out there. Why not just get different OS stickers for a dual-boot system and stick em on? Makes it more interesting. Or at least tell people what you have in your notebook without switching it on/taking it apart~ :D

Then again you can have too many stickers... :p

Go to Ubuntu's website and request a free Ubuntu install CD. A month or so later, they'll send you an Ubuntu CD + 10 or so stickers.

Thanks. i just ordered kubuntu cd's

Hopefully they come with the kubuntu sticker.

Adding stickers might make it an eye catcher and easier to sell ;)

EDIT: Do they ship you 32bit or 64bit?

I'd remove #1 if it came with them, #2 it depends on if it was intrusive (on the bottom of the laptop or somewhere inside, fine, on top, probably not). OS and CPU/GPU ones I'll leave on. Evidence? I've still got my Vista one on and I haven't run Vista in more than a year. Though I have thought about replacing it with an XP one.

I didn't actively remove any stickers on my SZ.
Only after some cleaning the HSDPA advertisment started o come off, at this poin it was removed.
Then, sometime later a dlna (what is it) sticker started to come off - cleaning, so it was removed - else, I've got the indows Vista one on my palmrest, the NVidia and Centrino - and I don't think they'll ever go, even if the actual writing should come off...

Stickers on underside - license key, intact, one for the HSDPA modulke - intact, and ther may be one with the laptops serial too - but I'm not sure.

Peel off and use alcohol to remove residue.

I never take mine off. I took off the Lightscirbe nad enerygy star ones, but leave on the Centrino and Windows stickers. I dont have a GPU sticker. I was thinking of buying one. :p

i see all these people with those huge palmwrest stickers half fallen off all rolled up with black stuck the sticky part and then theres the big huge plastic films that are half on half off all rolled up and bent...does it really make your laptop look better? i think not. remove them all minus processor and os.

it is best to remove all the stickers right away!

any sticker that is left on for a long period of time will stain the surface.

but if you don't care about cosemetics... just leave them on and they will in time do the damage.

always remove them as soon as i get it. if they are left for to long them removed you can usuallyy see a shadow of where they used to be. i like the look far better without any stickers. except of course the main brand one on the lid

I keep the "badges" on, not the advertisements. Ya know, the ones only there to give a quick overview of the features.

I keep the CPU, ram, GPU, OS, and SRS badges if they come with it. and of course all of the stickers on the bottom of the notebook. And usually put larger stickers on the lid if the notebook is matte, (not on glossy, or brushed aluminum). Such as my compaq It is true about the the fade over time though, but by then I'd probebly just repaint it..

Some people wear their tacky spec stickers with pride though... urgh. My new Dell E6500 doesn't have any stickers on the bottom which is great. all the compliance stickers are on the inside of the titanium cover.

I strip all the stickers off (also the small bits of plastic sheet covering the clear plastic items and CD draw lables... OCD for the win)

If I leave stickers on laptops they usually get all tatty looking very quickly with me so better to remove them when they come off cleanly rather than spend hours trying to remove them after the edges have gone and all the glue likes the laptop more than the sticker.

Saying that however, my desktop PC is a sticker-fest mainly because they will stay the way they are currently as they wont be subject to wear.

personally, i think it looks ugly with those stickers on. i'd remove all of them, it looks much more special and shiny afterwards. done it for mine (a silver notebook), and it made wonders. it suddenly didn't look like a cheap notebook from the shop with all the ads on it :)
